Photos of my personal life outside of soccer as a boarding school student.
Team Fun
Don't let our serious demeanor on the field fool you. Our team knows how to have fun. This photo was taken after our last game as a full team with a send-off for our 9 seniors. Though it was nearly midnight with a 12-hour drive ahead of us, we spent the next hour on the bus singing our hearts out.
A Night at Shattuck
As boarding school students, we make our own fun after hours. Thankfully for us, as the weather heats up, there is plenty to do on our beautiful campus. In May, I took this photo while being surrounded by spikeball, soccer, football, and crowds or friend groups laughing into the night. Truly a sureal experience.
My group
I transferred to Shattuck mid-year, which to be the new kid that late is absolutely terrifying. People have established who they are close to and it seemed difficult to make myself at home there at first. Until came the friend group. Pictured above is my home away from home. They gave me endless laughs whenever I needed it and we all became so close so incredibly fast. Even in the negative weather (pictured), we would find ways to spend time with each other; if that meant huddled up, so be it.
Roommates
The caption on the mirror "you are enough" just about sums up the relationship that I have built with my best friends; my roommates. To say that they have changed my life is an understatement. Both of these amazing people let me into their dorm room and took me in with open arms. We make the effort of being the most envied room, doing karaoke, movie, and game nights a couple of times a week. From the fun standpoint, we would make each other laugh until we cried. From the emotional standpoint, these girls became my rock, never hesitating to support me.
Football!
Pictured is me and my best friend since we were each 1-year-old, watching the best football team in the nation: the Denver Broncos. During visits to Colorado over breaks, I make sure to show off my Colorado pride (and competitive spirit) at football, soccer, hockey, and basketball games; usually accompanied by my sister from another mister.
Senior day!
As the underclassmen of the team, we go all out for those who make up the backbone of the team: our wonderful seniors. Pictured, are all nine of our seniors, all committed to play at the collegiate level. This day for us was so special to recognize not only their talent, but also the commitments that each of them made to make the school and the team a better place. Every single one of them was accepting and put a smile on my face. It's really hard to see them go, but I am so excited to watch them as they play at a higher level and grow into adults.
Dogs
In 2020, I became the proud owner of 2 golden retrievers. The furballs naturally brought loads of excitement and love but also another component that as their main caretaker, responsibility. I had to feed them, clean them, watch them, and train them, something I was entirely unfamiliar with. However, their happy demeanors and warm cuddles made it all worth it.
Family
As we cheered for KNVB, this is the group of people that taught me that family is so much more than just a word. They are the influences that made it possible for me to grow into the person I am today. They push me to be a better version of myself and with them being overachievers, I am expected to be no less than exceptional. They show me everyday what unconditional love means and I don't know where I would be without it.
